Cancer Removal and Repair

Skin cancers affect a growing number of Americans each year and are the most common malignant tumors in fair-skinned people.

For many kinds of non-melanoma cancers, Dr. Samy Badawy may recommend Mohs micrographic surgery.

Mohs surgery is a state-of-the-art technique for removing skin cancers, even those difficult to see with the naked eye.

Since the cancer is removed in thin layers, the maximum amount of normal skin is left behind, making Mohs surgery a viable option for cancers around the eyes, ears or nose where it is especially important for cosmetic reasons to remove as little skin as possible.

Mohs surgery is typically performed under local anasthesia. The resulting wound is repaired in the office, usually following the surgery.
